TRAVEL

TRAVEL, TRAVEL,
TRAVEL...,
Really, travel experiences generates my energy, educates me the arts and cultures of the people living in that area, feel the pain of the people for their hard work to get their daily food,
Poor people living happily with their small income and without fearing about their future eventhough they don't have any bank balance!
So, make travel whenever you have time available and get superb experience. Apart from these things, the mother nature offers you the scenic beauty of hills, mountains, streams, forests, jungles with wildlife, cool climates, plants, creatures, tribal living etc.,
SO ENJOY THE TRAVEL EXPERINCE!

Matheren trip

I happened to go to Mumbai last year during August, on my private affairs. During that period of stay i got some free-time, I decided to visit some places nearby Mumbai. On a scrutiny of website, I found a place called 'MATHREN' a hill station. Without getting any information from the local public in the area, AIROLI where I stayed, decided to go to MATHREN with self-confidence. For kind information, i am from tamilnadu, knowing some Butler-English,
Hindi a little knowledge by which i gained seeing HINDI films from 1970 to 1980.
I think that my idea of seeing Bombay would has been stored in my mind at that time. Coming back to the present, I boarded an electric train from THANE to NERAL, from where I have to pickup a hill-toy-train to MATHREN. When i got down at NERAL, I was informed that the trains were cancelled due to heavy rains. I was terribly disappointed! But, to my surprise, i was advised to take a taxi to MATHREN.
Then i took a taxi, the driver dropped me at the entrance. From there I have to reach MATHREN by means two transports. One by Pony-Ride and another by pull-push (?) Cart handled by men. I didn't want to disturb either the Pony or the men on humanetarian grounds. Finally I decided to go there by walk with my knee-pain. Really it was a nice, pleasent climate.
Mathren is one-and-a-half km from the taxi stand, you can go by foot-path or by railway track. My suggession is railway track only. Because it is easy and effortless and also several people are using it. The foot-path is muddy and slippery. I went there (Mathren) thro' railway track and returned from there by foot path. The local administration must be appreciated in strictly adhearing the norms of not allowing the motorised vehicles within their boundaries.
The trip was enjoyed by me very much by breathing the non-polluted air, seeing the scenic beauty of Matheren, various cultures of people of that region. There are no language/religion/region barrier
in that area. 'Proud to be an INDIAN.

My experience in general compartment in Matsyakantha express.

BALAKRISHNAN,
Coimbatore.
Usually I go to Mumbai by 1014-Lokmanya Tilak express. For a change I decided to go by Matsyakantha express during last week of August last year. I booked a 'tatkal' ticket from Mangalore to Mumbai. The status of my ticket was waiting list 12. The ticket was booked thro' a Travel Agent and he assured me that my ticket would be confirmed. By trusting his words, I took a bus to Bangalore from Coimbatore. I spent two days for sight seeing at Bangalore, I took a Karnataka Bus to Mangalore by 11 pm. The crew members of the bus were very courteous in treating the passengers by guiding their seat accomadations, helping them to place their luggages in the (goods) section of the Bus with patience. I reached Mangalore by 6 am. After refreshing myself, i gone to Mangalore Railway station to catch my 'Matsyagantha Express' by 12 Noon. To my great disappointment,
I was informed that my ticket was in waiting list 7 and there was no chance for confirmed seat.
By around 1 pm the 'Matsyagandha Express' compartments were brought to the platform for departure. Without hesitation, I decided to board the General Compartment. Luckily I got a single seat which happens to be in windowside. Among huge rush of people with various traditions, cultures, dresses, food items and with various type of Hawkers, Vendors etc.,
I spent the whole night with my above people. I enjoyed this trip very much. My suggession to everybody, as an INDIAN, one must have a travel experience in an inter-state train. I had that experience. What about you! Don't you want to be PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN?
